Changes to Come to Hayes

In the field of nature, many hours of dedication and work go towards preserving the natural resources that are at risk. For Hayes Arboretum, it is protecting the Old Growth Forest - the same forests that people walked through hundreds of years ago before Indiana was a State. But we also strive to look towards the future, from the tree plantings that happened in 1922 to more recently the conversion of lawn space and fields into prairie. We understand as the world changes around us, the needs from the community may change.

That is why this past winter, Hayes Arboretum applied for a grant that we are happy to announce was awarded to us. What does that mean? A portion of these funds will be allotted towards updating the Nature Playscape so that more children and families can enjoy the space safely. Additionally, funds will allow us to begin the process of master planning. This program will allow Hayes Arboretum to evaluate what is needed on property to help both us as an organization and the community as a whole.

How can you help? Keep up to date about the progress of the planning via our social media (Instagram & Facebook). If you would like to donate towards the project, you can do so by texting “hayesarb” to 50155 or clicking here.
