Hayes Arboretum is a private operating foundation that connects people to nature by making the property safe and open to the public. But we need your help.

Please follow the rules and regulations below. Improper conduct may lead to expulsion.

Do not harm the natural space.

  • No collecting or hunting of mushrooms, flowers, plants, animals, rocks, or other natural objects.

  • No fishing or trapping.

  • Do not climb trees or remove limbs, sticks, leaves from trees.

  • Do not carve into trees.

  • Respect the native vegetation and wildlife.

  • Stay on the trails.

  • Keep the trails clean.

  • Carry out all trash.

  • Do not dump debris.

  • Do not feed or approach wildlife.

Leash pets and keep under control at all times.

  • Carry out all pet waste or place within designated pet waste stations.

  • Keep pets on the trail.

  • Do not abandon animals.

Keep others safe.

  • No motorized or electric vehicles beyond the parking areas.

  • No Class 2 and 3 e-bikes on trails.

  • No unauthorized carrying of firearms or concealed weapons.

  • No camping, overnight parking, fires, fireworks, graffiti, or any act of destruction or vandalism of property, landmarks, and buildings.

  • No alcoholic beverages permitted.

  • No smoking, vaping, or illicit drug use.

  • Children must be accompanied at all times. 

  • No Mountain Bikes are allowed on the trails at this time.

Respect the unique and historical features.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult in the Nature Center.

  • Walk inside the buildings at all times.

  • Keep items in designated areas and exhibits in the Nature Center.

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times in the Nature Playscape.

  • Enjoy the Nature Playscape safely, for yourself and others.

  • Return items to designated play area after use.
